Further Study
-
“Call of the Wild” by Kimberly Ann Johnson is a fantastic book which speaks specifically to women, the nervous system, trauma, and rewilding our bodies. This is a fairly complex book with scientific jargon but it’s well worth the read, especially if you’d like to learn more about trauma. You can buy it here or listen to it via Audible.
-
“Waking the Tiger” by Peter Levine is a great place to start if you want to learn more about the felt sense and thwarted instincts. Peter Levine is the founder behind the Somatic Experiencing Movement and is an incredible man with an excellent body of work. You can buy it here but I encourage you to shop locally where possible.
-
“The Wild Woman’s Way” by Michaela Boehm is a fantastic read all about feminism, the joy of embodied movement, embodiment, and intuition. I highly recommend this book. You can buy it here or listen to it on Audible.
-
“The Body Keeps the Score” by by Bessel Van Der Kolk is a incredible book that demonstrates clearly how trauma is stored in our body. Backed with tonnes of research and studies, this is a fantastic read for practitioners and lay people alike. You can buy it here, or listen on Audible.
-
“Somatic Internal Family Systems Therapy” by Susan McConnell takes the already transformative modality of IFS and adds the crucial pieces of embodiment and somatics to curate an even more powerful modality. If you’re interested in parts work, this book is an excellent place to start. Note it is more for practitioners, so it is heavy on the jargon. You can buy it here or listen for free with Spotify Premium.
-
“No Bad Parts” by Richard Schwartz is a fantastic book if you’re interested in learning more about parts work. He speaks to healing trauma and restoring wholeness through the lens of the Internal Family Systems model. There are practical exercises to help you build a relationship with your different parts. This book articulates well the idea that there truly are no bad parts. A must read. You can find it here or listen on Audible.
-
“Decolonising the Body” by Kelsey Blackwell speaks to the rich and intrinsic wisdom that lives in our bodies. Decolonising is a necessary practice, regardless of if you are a woman of colour or a white-bodied woman. We all live in systems that prioritise the values of colonisation; to shrink, to be perfect, to hurry, to accrue more and more. This book is a deep breath out and gives the reader deep permission to return home; allowing ourselves to trust what we have always known. You can buy it here.
-
“Come as You Are” by Emily Nagoski is a fantastic read for absolutely every woman. In this book, Emily speaks to what is ‘normal’ in the world of sexual function, anatomy, desire, and pleasure. What most resonated for me was the concept of a sexual break and sexual accelerator, that we all have stimuli that either help or hinder us to ‘get in the mood’. If you’re struggling with your relationship to sex or your body, I urge you to give this book a read. You can buy it here or listen to it for free with Spotify Premium.

For the body rituals course. I adore this body brush from The Wooed. A gorgeous woman-owned small business. You can buy it here.

I love using my scalp brush every night before bed. It feels so beautiful and is also a great tool for when you’re oiling your hair. I got mine in Japan, but I like the look of this one.
-
I have to say I am OBSESSED with my Shakti Mat. I tentatively purchased a mat after hearing some positive reviews on stress reduction, sleep, and releasing physical tensions. The first two uses I instantly regretted the purchase (why did I spent $80 to be in pain?!) however after the third try I finally ‘got’ it. Pain turns to pleasure quickly and now I look forward to hoping on my mat before bed. I use mine for a minimum of 20 minutes each night. It’s like having a remedial massage therapist in your back pocket. You can buy yours here.
Oils & Hydration

I think everyone by now knows how much I love Bluem. I’ve partnered with them for almost 2 years now and I am so grateful to be part of their community. Bluem do excellent skin serums - I’ve been using the finger lime and kakadu plum night and day for years and my skin loves them! You can buy them here (please note this is an affiliate link).
-
I started using this oil a year ago and have noticed such a difference in the health of my hair. I put this oil throughout my hair and scalp and leave it overnight before washing.
-
I love applying this oil to my breasts and womb when I’m premenstrual. Not only is it a beautiful connection ritual but the more I use the oil, the less pain and inflammation I have. I cannot recommend this oil enough.
Wellness
-
I was guided to use Foraged a few years ago. I felt I had exhausted every iron and zinc supplement out there. My levels were so low I was falling asleep at my desk each afternoon. After just a few months of taking Foraged, my iron levels were restored. I can’t recommend this enough.

My friend recommended I try Alexis Smart’s bach flower remedies when I was going through a stressful time, and I have to say they are absolutely incredible. Equally subtle but very powerful. I recommend trying her quiz to see what you most need support with, and a member of her team will reach out with their suggestions. I tried ‘In Love’ first followed by ‘Peaceful Worrier’. Find them here.

Loco Loves are by no means a secret but they have a cult following for a reason. Ethically sourced and made in Byron Bay while infused with adaptogens and all the good things, they are beyond tasty. These are my go-tos when I’m due to bleed and want to treat myself.

I LOVE my saunas. I go to City Cave monthly and find I feel so calm and nourished after an infrared sauna.
